Athletics - Athletics Program

Athletic Philosophy

At Stuart Hall, athletics are an important part of a well-rounded education, in part because they
contribute to physical well-being, but even more so for what they can teach. Through athletics, students learn the value of hard work, perseverance, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our athletics philosophy promotes the building of character and the development of skills in a healthy and competitive environment.

Every Stuart Hall student is encouraged to participate in athletics. Lower School students are introduced to sports through intramural programs focused on basic fundamentals with the option of participating on travel teams on a limited basis. Middle School and Upper School students are encouraged to participate as members of interscholastic teams. As members of the Virginia Association of Christian Athletics (VACA), our teams compete in numerous sports including basketball, cross-country, soccer, and volleyball. We also offer cheerleading. We continue to consider additional sports offerings based on the interests and well-being of our students.

Middle and Upper School students who are not inclined to participate in an interscholastic sport have the option of intramural sports which are offered as an after school activity two days per week. Our on-campus facilities include a modern gymnasium, boys' and girls' locker rooms, tennis courts, and a fitness center. Stuart Hall has an athletic field on campus as well as a 5-acre athletic field site with just five minutes from the School.
