Athlete of the Week

During the Monday All-School Assembly, the Athletic Department recognized students for its Athletes of the Week. Athletes are nominated by their respective coaches based on performances in the prior week's athletic competitions.

The Athletes of the Week for competitions during the week of August 25-31 are Elijah Rinaldi (Cross Country), Josie Cranor (Cross Country), Emma Nelsen (Varsity Volleyball), Caroline Eastham (Middle School Volleyball), and Riley Fisher (Varsity Soccer)!

Elijah was nominated for finishing second on the team while demonstrating great Leadership.  In the Cross Country team first race of the season on August 25, Josie finished 3rd on the team while running a personal best.  In Varsity Volleyball's games Emma total  9 kills and 12 blocks!  In the Middle School Volleyball's games, Caroline tallied 5 kills and 19 service points that included 13 aces.  In the Varsity Soccer teams' two games against United Christian Academy and Ridgeview Christian, Riley scored a total of 8 goals!

The Athletes of the Week for competitions during the week of September 3-8 are Trayonna McKeithan (Varsity Volleyball) Jo Rizzo (Middle School Volleyball), Erich Schmid (Cross Country), Chloe Cook (Cross Country), and Cole Whitmore (Middle School Soccer)!

In the Varsity Volleyball team's one game last week, a win against Tandem Friends School, Trayonna led the team with 6 kills.  Jo Rizzo served 5 aces in the Middle School Volleyball team's game vs Eastern Mennonite and in their win against SVCA, her passing skills and plays at the net were key in the final set.  In his second career middle school race, Erich was able to shave 2 minutes off his time.  In their meet at Eastern Mennonite this past weekend, Chloe finished 4th on the team while setting a new personal best time!  Cole led the Middle School Soccer team with 2 second half goals. Both goals were scored on breakaways where he dribbled past the Eastern Mennonite defense.
