The expectations are big, the classes small. From the fifth grade on, Stuart Hall places great emphasis on fundamental skills as well as developing critical thinking. This means students learn to write and punctuate correctly. They interpret information, and not simply memorize it. In math as well as the sciences, students understand the concepts behind the problems. These basic skills serve as the framework for success in the middle school, high school, and in college. The Dean's Council meets twice monthly to discuss academic issues, advise the academic dean, and make appropriate decisions about policies and procedures to assure the effectiveness of teaching and learning and to strengthen the curriculum.
