Morning announcements, Friday, May 2 and Monday, May 5 Sports news: Last Thursday, three Stuart Hall students-Thomas Bartenstein, Robert Hopkins and David Keegan-represented Stuart Hall in the inaugural VACA Conference Golf Tournament, held at the Staunton Country Club. Schedule for the week: May 5: Middle School and JV Track - AWAY at Harrisonburg HS; 4 p.m. MS Boys' Lacrosse at HOME with Grymes; 4 p.m. Varsity Girls' Lacrosse at HOME with Fluvanna; 5:15 p.m. (last home game!) Varsity Girls' Soccer AWAY for VACA Regions at Fresta; 5 p.m. May 6: Varsity Boys' Lacrosse AWAY at Fishburne; 4 p.m. Varsity Girls' Soccer AWAY for VACA Regions at Fresta (if win on May 5); 5 p.m. May 7: No games May 8: Girls' Tennis AWAY at Chatham Hall; 4:30 p.m. May 9: Varsity Boys' Lacrosse AWAY with Shenandoah County; 5 p.m. Varsity Girls' Soccer AWAY for VACA State at SVCA (if win on May 5); TBA Middle School Girls' Lacrosse AWAY with Lexington; 5 p.m. Go STU! AP Exams will be conducted during the weeks of May 5 and May 12. The schedule is as follows: Monday, May 5, 8 a.m., AP Government Wednesday, May 7, 8 a.m., AP Calculus Thursday, May 8, 8 a.m., AP Literature Friday, May 9, 8 a.m., AP US History Monday, May 12, 8 a.m., AP Biology and AP Music Tuesday, May 13, 8 a.m., AP Environmental Tuesday, May 13, noon, AP Psychology Thursday, May 15, 8 a.m., AP World History Students should remember: 1. The exams will be given in the basement of Emmanuel Church. 2. Students should arrive at Stuart Hall around 7:45 a.m., sign in, then report to Emmanuel at 8 a.m. sharp. If they are late and the proctor has already started, the student will not be allowed in. 3. NO cell phones, I-Pods, etc., allowed in the church. 4. Students should bring number 2 pencils, pens (black or blue), calculator (for Calculus). 5. NO food or drink. 6. Students taking the AP exam are allowed to dress down for the day. They should wear comfortable but appropriate clothing. 7. Students are not allowed to discuss multiple choice questions after the exam. The students must wait 48 hours before discussing free response questions. 8. Students may not bring paper, books, or anything but the needed items. 9. Students' accounts have been charged for the cost of these tests. Those students who now have negative balances as a result should remind their parents to deposit funds. Sixth graders are selling dress down passes for $2, to be used on Wednesday, May 7. Proceeds will go to support the SPCA. Today (May 5) is the final Admissions Visit Day of the year. Many students are visiting. Please make them and their families welcome! The Middle School play, Cirque du Shakespeare, was a wonderful success! Thanks to Mr. Manson, the cast and crew and all the faculty and staff who helped with the production! Yearbooks will be delivered on May 16. Until then, cost for this first ever all-color yearbook is $50; after May 16, the cost will be $55. Students may order yearbooks in the School Store. This weekend's activity is a trip to King's Dominion. Currently, so many students have signed up that Ms. Bower will need to reserve a second charter bus, which will affect the cost of the tip. Ms. Bower will e-mail all students signed up for the trip with final details and cost information. Students should let her know by the end of the day today if they would like to cancel their spots. Students participating in this trip should make sure they have adequate funds in their student accounts. In keeping with School tradition, Seniors have two dress-down days a week for the rest of the year. Beginning this week, Wednesdays and Fridays will be dress-down days for Seniors. |
