Include this person's information in the space provided on the application for the "Name and address of a relative or friend to be contacted in emergency if the family cannot be reached." If you do not know anyone in the United States, please let the School know so we may properly plan for your daughter.
Enrollment:
- Once a student is admitted, she will be sent an acceptance letter and the enrollment contract.
- When the enrollment contract has been returned with a non-refundable $2,000 deposit, the I-20, with which to obtain the student's (F-1) visa will be sent.
- Stuart Hall provides health insurance for an additional cost to our international students. For more information, please visit this site :International Student Insurance
- Once enrolled at Stuart Hall, the Admissions Office will need to know of any change in the student's situation or activities at Stuart Hall that may affect the immigration status. This would include travel abroad, transferring to another educational institution, and leaving a summer forwarding address.
Academics:
- The intent of the ESL program is to improve a student's level of English so she will be successful in our regular college preparatory program. An international student who comes to Stuart Hall as a non-speaker may need extra work in English to participate in regular content courses. In this case, parents may need to assume extra tutoring fees.
Travel:
- The residential halls are closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and several long weekends. During these periods, students will need to stay off campus. Numerous faculty and staff open their homes to our international students. If you need assistance in finding a home for any of the breaks, the Dean of Students will assist you.
- The School encourages students and their families to make flight arrangements as soon as possible after enrollment to Stuart Hall. Holidays are heavy travel times, and it can be difficult to arrange a flight at the last minute. The Dean of Students is happy to help with travel arrangements.
- Arrangements can be made for students to be picked up from the airport at a charge to the parent. We encourage students to fly into the Shenandoah Valley or Charlottesville Airport whenever possible. Shuttle service is available from Washington D.C. to the Shenandoah Valley (SHD) and Charlottesville (CHO) airports through United Airlines.
- All airline tickets, visas, passports, and other important documents need to be turned in to the School Business Office upon arrival at Stuart Hall to be held in the School safe.
