Three Stuart Hall Students take home the glory!
The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution ( DAR) hosts an essay contest every year
for local students. This year's senior topic was how
Christopher Columbus' early experiences influenced his later successes and
failures as an explorer and captain. Senior, Derek Obenschain and Junior, Mona Breslau won the
senior division contest, reading their papers at the February DAR
meeting.
The junior division topic compared and
contrasted the different experiences of those who helped build the
transcontinental railroad in the 1860s (Chinese and Irish
immigrants). 7th grader Cady van Assendelft won the junior
division and read her paper at the meeting.
There was a cash prize for the
winners. Congratulations to these talented students!
