Dear STU Middle School Community, I am so proud to be forwarding to you the following letter from Johns Hopkins CTY. This letter is a celebration of our community's commitment to education. Our teachers, our parents, and our students have made this honor possible. What we must remember, though, is that our community has done nothing out of the ordinary to make this honor happen. We have gone about our daily business - having high academic expectations; challenging our students to challenge themselves; expecting critical thinking and creative problem solving; maintaining a rigorous academic program; preserving our co-curricular programs. John Hopkins CTY has honored us for being us! This is what makes the recognition especially meaningful. Please make sure to visit their link wwwdotctydotjhudoteduslashtsslashtopschoolsslashVAtopdothtml for the complete listing of Top 100 VA Schools. We are in some very fine company! Congratulations Middle School students, teachers, and parents! Warmest regards,
Sue Appleby
Middle School Director
To: Sue Appleby Head Of Middle School Stuart Hall Middle School Dear Sue Appleby: We'd like to share some good news with you. Stuart Hall Middle School is a "Top School" for the state of Virginia in the 2009 Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth Talent Search. We looked at the top 100 schools by state to determine the number of student enrollments we received into our annual Talent Search, and we're pleased to let you know Stuart Hall Middle School received this honor. We hope this achievement will be a source of pride for you, your staff, students and families. We're very thankful for your participation, of course, but we are also mindful of what this award says about your school. It suggests you have a solid core of very high achieving students. It also suggests that you look out for your top students' best interests by encouraging them and their parents to investigate outside academic options like CTY. Please also let us know what CTY can do to help communicate your success and to support your efforts to develop top academic talent in your school. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing students from Stuart Hall Middle School in future CTY Talent Searches (enrollment this year runs through June 30). Congratulations again. Sincerely, Lea Ybarra Executive Director The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth |
