Cochran Middle School Print E-mail
The Cochran Middle School is coed day sixth, seventh, and eighth grade with a girls boarding program that begins in the eighth grade. There are approximately 85 students in the Middle School. The curriculum is built on a continuum starting in kindergarten.

Beginning in the seventh grade, students are divided in math according to ability. Class size averages 13 students, which allows an optimum teacher-student ratio and careful individual attention. Outside the classroom, Middle School students enjoy clubs, athletics, community service, and the arts.

The Cochran Middle School has an outstanding academic reputation. Stuart Hall Middle School students consistently rank well on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. In the seventh and eighth grades, selected students take the SAT for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.
