SUMMER & AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES UPDATE
Dragons Den party! We will have our year-end party on Wednesday, May 29. The children voted to have ice cream, cookies, and chips for snack. We will also have water play activities, so please have your children bring bathing suits, towels, and sunscreen. If you would like to donate activities or food, we would greatly appreciate it.
URGENT: We need a soccer coordinator! Much of the preparation for this fall sport takes place over the summer. Without someone stepping forward at this time, we may not be able to offer soccer at the lower school in the fall. Please don’t let this much appreciated sport fall to the wayside!
Soccer coach volunteers needed. Knowing early who is available to help with the soccer teams will make the coordinator’s job flow more smoothly. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Debra Schmid.
Lego Club & Lego Robotics: Lego Club is winding down. Friday, May 17 is the last meeting. The kids have enjoyed a variety of opportunities to learn about topics such as bridge building, space crafts, architecture, and geometry (to name a few.) We plan to pick right up where we left off when we return to school next August. This club was geared toward younger students and will continue as such. Caitlin Corbeil has generously offered to lead this group. We also plan to create a Lego Robotics team of 4th – 8th grade students who will meet at the Middle School. These students will prepare for and participate in local competitions (VA/DC First Lego League). Assistants will be needed for both groups. If you can help with either group, please contact Debra Schmid.
Camp STU registration deadline is May 31st! Our STUwarts Summer Session (July 29 – August 2) is full. Don’t wait!
FROM THE LIBRARY
Thanks to everyone for welcoming me into my first year as library coordinator. I have had a blast this year and am so happy to be returning next year!
Please remember the "Books from Abroad" section of the library as you travel the planet this summer. We would love to have donations of different books from all around the world. Also, please start looking around your home for any library books that need to be returned before the end of the year. This week is the last week of checkout to give students time to return all of their books.
Thanks again for a wonderful year, and have a fantastic summer. Happy reading!
Kelly Flora-Brownell
HOUSEKEEPING – Ms. Jenny will be leaving the Marquis ship to join the STU ship! We are so happy to have her in this position. Jenny will start her new position on May 28. It is really exciting to have someone we know and who knows our school community and culture in this position. Ms. Cindy has her replacement lined up to be trained by Ms. Jenny, so we don't have to worry about the salad bar!
